Stationhouse Nursery is rated Ofsted Outstanding in
ALL areas!!!!!
Our inspector Mary Daniel, spent over 10 hours on site, before giving us the fantastic
outcome. Mary said if she could make the outcome flash she would, she was
overwhelmed by the quality commitment and expertise of the team; and how happy,
engaged and calm the children were. She loved our planning and assessment of
children ensuring that all children were making great progress and praised our
Outstanding leadership. Well done to the Stationhouse team, this is much
deserved!!! A copy of our report can be found here...
We were delighted to be one of the first nurseries
in the whole of the South of England to have been awarded Millie’s Mark in 2016.
We wholeheartedly believe in all staff holding a paediatric first aid
certificate ever since we opened our doors in April 2013. Millie’s Mark is an
award to demonstrate that we go over and above our statutory duty to keep
children safe. If you would like to find out a little more about it please

Nutritious meals and snacks are such an important
part of our day and we are really proud to announce we have been awarded the A
Food for Life Early Years Award!
“Providing the best
start in life for all children in our care, is our founding principle, and
offering the highest quality of ingredients to ensure our food is not only
tasty, but nutritious, is a core part of that. Wendie Mason and our team work
tirelessly to plan menus, prepare food from scratch and offer children
experiences like growing their own fruit and vegetables and preparing their own
meals. We have also chosen to work with Outstanding suppliers like Butchers
Block, A David and MJ Baker, who’s consistent aims are to provide the highest
standards in welfare and sustainability, and deliver restaurant quality meat
and produce. It is these partnerships which have enabled us to gain another
Early Years award for food quality and education.” Zoe
Parsons Director Lakehouse and Stationhouse Nurseries Portishead.
“Communication & relationships; there is excellent communication between all staff in the
rooms and relationships between adults and children appear strong. There is a
welcoming feel to the environment and feeling of respect between staff members
and also towards children. This is a very warm and inviting setting which is
evident in the children’s interactions with staff and other children." May 2016
We are so proud of this award and all the hard work from the team. We were
fortunate to have speech and language therapist Nicola Holmes, to work
alongside with during the accreditation process. Nicola visited the nursery and
observed practice in each of the rooms, she was particularly impressed by the
high-quality interactions between the team and children. Her observations
highlighted how we create an environment where children are immersed in
opportunities that encourage children’s early communication skills.
We know that what differentiates us from other
nurseries, is our people. We recruit, develop, and retain the very best people
and it’s no accident. We put a huge amount of time and effort developing the
right tools to assess potential at all stages, and through rigorous assessment,
induction and an ongoing performance culture we work in partnership with every
member of our team to ensure they retain the passion and skill to do their jobs
to the highest of standards. We want to be the best and we work extremely hard
every day to ensure this is a reality.
We were so proud to be awarded the Investors in
People Gold Standard in 2015. Investors In People is a management framework for
high performance through people. Formed in 1991, Investors in People was
established by the UK Government to help organisations get the best from their
people. This prestigious accreditation is recognised across the world as a mark
of excellence. The process was extremely rigorous, with 3 full days of
interviews with 22 members of the team across both Lakehouse and Stationhouse
selected by our assessor Pauline Helliar-Symons. The interviews were
challenging and the feedback overwhelming. Pauline was so impressed by the
passion and enthusiasm of every member of staff, our clear vision and strategy
and commitment to outstanding people practice; she said she had never
encountered a business with so much energy and commitment – gosh the tears were
flowing!!!
Congratulations
to my team on this amazing achievement. We know we provide fantastic
menus and healthy eating experiences for children, but it is so good to get
recognised for this by the Children’s Food trust. It is a real
credit to our amazing kitchen team who work tirelessly to provide great food
every day.
We are so fortunate to have such a beautiful learning
environment for the children and have worked tirelessly to ensure that our
rooms are full of resources and areas that promote awe and wonder for our
children. We have created a space where children investigate, explore and be
curious about the world around them. This has always been an area of strength
for us at Stationhouse and Lakehouse, and we decided to audit what we offer in
our learning environment by working through ‘The Curiosity Approach’. The
purpose of this accreditation is to ensure that curiosity, awe, and wonder is
deeply embedded in our setting and provides a framework for the team to
evaluate and reflect our practice to ensure we are doing the very best for our
children. We will be submitting our portfolio soon, so watch this space………
